Old Indian Ads… Revisited

Ads are great stress busters. They come in between soaps, movies, reality shows & news headlines to break the monotony of the program. Ads provide us breaks that we can utilize to stretch our bones or go to relieve ourselves or fetch a glass of water or check quickly what’s going on other channels. Some ads are really entertaining, some are educating, some are in public interest, or some might be plain boring. Whatever might be but we can’t escape ads. They are the bread & butter of any channel to survive. My little daughter refuses to eat until we entertain her with some ads especially featuring kids & babies (Evian, Pampers, Johnson & Johnson’s, Huggies, KitKat, Pears etc.). I have a whole lots of ads packed in my pen drive just for her.

While browsing YouTube to download ads, I came across the very old ads I have grown with. These are the ads with very melodious jingles. They were everlasting and touched heart of the audience of that era. Doordarshan was part of our lives and so were these ads. Filmy celebrity endorsements were very few. These ads have made some characters household names and established the actors as mini celebrities. Who can forget Lalitaji (of Surf fame), although the real Lalitaji (Kavita Choudhury) acted in a TV serial, Udaan, but she will be always remembered for the ad than the serial. Here I have reproduced some ad jingles and links to watch them. Please add if I have missed anything in the comments.

Also some memorable opening songs of popular TV programs and National Integration songs are added at the end.
